Leicester City Council is procuring Marketing Services from suitably qualified Organisations/ individuals to market King Richard III Visitor Centre in Leicester.

As a guide to what we require.

•Experience in writing 5- year strategic marketing plans for a heritage visitor attraction of a similar size and importance. Consideration must be given to progress the ambition for the Visitor Centre as a world-class tourist attraction in the context of King Richard III experience in the city and county. The strategy should optimise the opportunities for the pre-launch, launch and post launch periods in order to secure a successful positive positioning of the King Richard III Visitor Centre. The strategy should show the difference in the marketing approach through the five year life cycle and how to sustain and grow visitor numbers to enable the long term viability of the centre. The types and frequency of measurement and KPIs should be included.

•The target audience is local, regional, national and international and evidence of an appreciation of target audience segmentation and marketing activity aimed specifically at children, families, schools and adult visitors (both specialist and non-specialist) should be provided.

• Expertise in advising on the website design and content for a visitor attraction. It is particularly important to have design experience that maximises online bookings, merchandise sales, etc. Knowledge of how to drive sales through regular web promotions linked to key periods in the calendar year is a must. Design proposals should allow for easy, regular updating of the site by the Visitor Centre’s own marketing officers and should be cost efficient. Examples of previous work should be referenced.

• A reputation for successful launch activity that demonstrates the ability to attract a managed flow of first-time visitors spread over an initial period of time to minimise the strain on operations and avoid visitor disappointment. Ability to reference at least one case study of securing positive outcomes in terms of visitor numbers, satisfaction and media coverage.
