Description of the contract

For the past two years, DCB has delivered an initiative that has focused on developing DigitalCity’s presence at national and international levels, and delivering significant benefits the cluster as a whole and individual businesses in it in terms of trade and investment. This initiative has delivered outstanding results. DCB wishes to continue this initiative as part of its 2012-15 project, which is to be part funded by ERDF. Subject to that funding being approved DCB wishes to run the scheme for the next two and a half years from October 2012 through to March 2015. The purpose of this Tender is to appoint a suitably experienced individual or organisation to deliver this initiative, as specified below. The contract will run up to March 2015 [approximately two and a half years]. The initiative has a number of clearly defined objectives – • Creating a genuine, and an effective, network of likely investors who would contribute in real ways to the investment environment in and around DigitalCity: these being tech hubs, venture capitalists, business angels and other organisations both in the UK and across the world. The network development focused on London, major international digital markets such as the USA, Japan and Korea and emerging markets such as India, China and Brazil • Developing the investment offer at cluster level – positioning the Tees Valley as a destination for digital and creative investment • Developing the investment offer for carefully selected companies within the DigitalCity cluster, bringing these offers to market, and helping the companies to win the investment • Developing in parallel a trade network capable of promoting trade and joint venture working for DigitalCity and the companies in its cluster • Developing a new digital and creative inward investment offer for the Tees Valley in the context of the economic situation and the lack of public funding allocated to the Tees Valley to lure inward investors • Any combination or permutation of the above that produces growth for the DigitalCity cluster
