This ITT procurement is for the provision of community pathology services (including but not limited to haematology, biochemistry, immunology and microbiology) on an exclusive basis, in accordance with a service specification, to users of pathology services in the community. The pathology service users are mainly the General Practitioners (GPs) in Staffordshire, West Midlands, and Shropshire and who provide primary medical services to a population in excess of 4.1 million. The contract term is for five years with an optional two year extension.
The main driver for the procurement is the requirement to implement the recommendations from the Carter Review of NHS pathology Services in England. The purpose of this procurement is to ensure there is consistent, accessible and affordable provision of high-quality, safe and compliant community pathology services to benefit patient outcomes and support the work of GPs and other users of community pathology services in the North West Midlands.

The deadline for receipt of PQQ response submissions is 12:00 on Friday 1.3.2013 and should be in accordance with the instructions set out in the PQQ documentation.
