Description
Derbyshire County Council is seeking to establish a contract with an experienced and qualified nutritionist for a peripatetic, part-time role.
The council is running a malnutrition campaign aimed at older people who are underweight or unintentionally losing weight in Derbyshire. Being underweight makes people more susceptible to health problems and leads to avoidable hospital admissions. There are three million malnourished older people in the UK.
The council wants to spread the campaign messages via talks, presentations and advice to community groups, clubs, societies and other interested organisations at various locations around Derbyshire.
We are looking for someone with a Level 3 qualification in Nutrition or a Diploma or Degree in Food Science Technology or Home Economics.
The successful tenderer will therefore need to be an experienced public speaker, drive and have the use of a car. They will also need to have the use of their own laptop computer.
Promotional materials, displays and an outline Powerpoint presentation will be provided. Remuneration will include travel time and travel expenses.
Talks will probably take no more than two hours each, including travelling time. A degree of flexibility is required as some groups will want talks in the daytime and some in the evening.
Pay would be a flat fee of £90 per talk, plus mileage at 45p per mile.
This fee includes development time, preparation time, travelling time and liaison with clubs and groups to set up a date. It is anticipated that up to 25 groups will require talks during the period September 2012 to March 2013.
