2 Contract Details

Title

Older People – Care Home Respite Service

2.2

Description of the goods or services required

The Council intends to procure a respite care service from local Care Home providers. The Council intends to block purchase the equivalent of 4 beds in total in the Kilmarnock and surrounding area and 2 beds in total in the Cumnock and Doon Valley area, subject to the Council being satisfied that Providers in either area can deliver the service to the standard specified in the contract and service specification. For the avoidance of doubt any Home proposed in the tender by the Service Provider must be situated within the boundary of East Ayrshire.

In order to maximise choice for service users the Council wishes to secure one bed in 6 individual Homes (4 in the Kilmarnock and surrounding area, and 2 in the Cumnock & Doon Valley area).

Total quantity or scope of tender

4 beds in the Kilmarnock and surround area; 2 beds in the Cumnock & Doon Valley area. Also the option to add an additional 1 bed in the Cumnock & Doon Valley area to one of the successful tenderers if required during the term of the contract.

The contract will be for a period of 3 years with 2 one-year extension options at the sole discretion of the Council.

Additional Information

All tenderers expressing an interest will be invited to tender. Expressions of Interest must be made via the Public Contracts Scotland

website – this will be conducted as an eTender, therefore tender documents must be downloaded, completed and uploaded again via

the Public Contracts Scotland website. Expressions of Interest and downloading of documents must be made by 12 noon on 9

January 2013 with tender submissions uploaded by 12 noon on 14 January 2013 – no late expressions of interest can be accepted.

No late tender submissions can be accepted and tenderers must ensure they allow sufficient time to upload their submissions via the

website in case there are any technical problems. Public Contracts Scotland helpdesk must be contacted immediately if there are any

problems, and in any event before the deadline of 12 noon.
