II.2.1)Total quantity or scope:
We are approaching the end of a contract to provide residential care in 5 homes for older people and 1 for people with learning disabilities. There are 190 beds in total and 171 of them are block contracted to the Council. The buildings, belonging to the Council, meet essential basic standards but do not meet current market expectations.
We are looking for an organisation or consortium (the bidder) that will replace most or all of the existing buildings with new buildings that meet modern standards plus the provision of residential and nursing care.
It is expected as an integral part of the tender that the bidder will make provision for essential capital investment in the new buildings meeting the Council’s requirements and those of the CQC.
In recognition of the capital investment required, the Council is prepared to consider trading the value of the land and buildings currently in use. Therefore the new contract is likely to include redevelopment of existing homes on no more than 3 sites. We are also open to the option of new homes on new sites within the Borough.
