Description of the contract

The focus of this work is to consider the methods and sources of information that could help local authorities conduct robust oral health needs assessments for their local community. The precise details of the work will be agreed later in the process with NICE. A suggested approach would be to: 1. Review a sample of Oral Health Needs Assessments recently published by PCTs in England and from this sample identify and appraise the processes, methods, sources of information used, findings or other relevant information including: o Identifying oral health needs of local communities and particular groups at greatest risk of poor oral health (see section 2.3) o Current oral health improvement interventions, activities and services, pathways into care, costs and outcomes o Key stakeholders and how authors identify and consult with them o Oral diseases and disorders within the local populations 2. Conduct a brief overview of national and international literature on undertaking Oral Health Needs Assessments.
