UKTI wishes to appoint a contractor under a framework to organise and run Assessment Centres to assist UK Trade and Investment’s Delivery Partners to recruit international trade advisers to a consistent standard.
UKTI, the Government Department that helps UK-based companies succeed globally and assists overseas companies to bring investment to the UK, has teams in each of the nine English Regions, which are responsible for the provision of high quality international trade advice and support to client companies throughout the region to help firms internationalise. This support is delivered through UKTI’s Delivery Partners, who are responsible for employing International Trade Advisers (ITAs), to deliver international trade advice to companies at the regional and local level. UKTI requires a common standard in the recruitment of ITAs and Trade Team Leaders by UKTI’s Delivery Partners. Attendance at a UKTI Assessment Centre is a mandatory and key part of the recruitment process.
An Assessment Centre is typically one day of exercises and activities designed to test a candidate’s ability to carry out the ITA or Trade Team Leader job, by assessing potential performance of candidates across a set of agreed key competencies. Once completed the Assessment Centres provide a pool of good-quality candidates from which the Regional Delivery Partners can make a final selection when filling vacancies.
To maximise use of resources individual Assessment Centres will be available to all of the Regional Delivery Partners that need to recruit. Flexibility will be required to enable Assessment Centres to be run for a single region or on a multiple region basis depending on numbers and timing.
