II.2.1)Total quantity or scope:

There are over 2 500 miles of public highway infrastructure within Oxfordshire, much of which is tree lined. To enable the County Council to undertake remedial tree works (that form part of its statutory responsibilities as both the Local Highways Authority and a property owner/manager) in a competent and safe manner, the County Council requires a number of specialist and non-specialist contractors to assist with the delivery of tree works that are identified by the County Council’s Tree Team.
The County Council’s requirements are separated into 2 Lots:
Lot 1 — Specialist Arboricultural Works;
Lot 2 — Non-specialist Arboricultural Works.
Any framework contracts awarded will also be made available to:
— Skanska UK PLC;
— District and City Councils within Oxfordshire: Cherwell District Council; Oxford City Council; South Oxfordshire District Council; Vale of White Horse District Council; West Oxfordshire District Council.
Framework duration will be 4 years structured as an initial 2 year period with an option for the County Council to extend for a further 2 1-year periods.
Estimated value excluding VAT: 2 640 000 GBP

1)Short description

Within the framework contract most of the core services are deemed as being ‘specialist arboricultural works’. This means that works will be carried out at a height of greater than circa 1.8 m. As such a rope and a harness or a hoist/lift will be required to carry out the instructed works.

Lot No: 2 Lot title: Non-Specialist Arboricultural Works

1)Short description

Within this element of the framework contract the core services are deemed as being ‘non-specialist arboricultural works’. This means that works will be carried out at a height of less than 1.8 m. As such a rope and a harness or a hoist/lift will not be required to carry out the instructed works. Typically, non-Specialist works are those undertaken from ground level utilising chainsaws, hedge cutters or brush cutters to remove smaller diameter vegetation. Non-specialist works do not require any aerial operations in the form of tree climbing.
