Aldern House is made up of a group of buildings of differing ages. These buildings are all connected with the exception of 2 small single storey detached buildings. The building near the goods entrance, known to us as the Bungalow, which is included in the tender package for cleaning. The second detached building is a store and workshop. The main building is a Grade II house built in the early 1820’s with several subsequent later extensions. The extensions date variously from the 1960’s and 1970’s together with one very recent extension forming part of improvements to the Reception suite. There are many small changes of floor level within the buildings. In all the offices extend to approximately 2 200 m2.

The office is open 5 days per week except at Bank Holidays when, normally, there is just one Bank Holiday day of closure although at Easter the office is closed on both Good Friday and Easter Monday. Reception is open for business between 8:45 am and 500 pm, Monday to Friday.

The successful tenderer shall provide at their own cost all equipment necessary for the proper performance of the services. The Authority wishes to continue with the current comprehensive use of environmentally acceptable cleaning agents. The cost of materials is to be met by the tenderer.

The services have been provided to the Authority by Derbyshire County Council, who have advised that if there is a transfer of the contract to another contractor there are affected employees who have employment rights under the Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) Regulations 2006, and tenders should therefore be submitted on a TUPE basis.
