The Contracting Authority is now seeking to appoint an appropriate provider of Data Centre Services to provide 2 geographically dispersed Data Centres or 2 Data Halls within a Data Centre campus, with flexibility to increase or decrease the volume of the Service during the contract term to accommodate the Contracting Authority’s future requirements.

The Contracting Authority currently has its own data centres, 1 based at the head office in Morpeth and the second collocated with the library in Cramlington. All line of business applications and all data are stored in the data centres. The Contracting Authority is carrying out a process of property rationalisation and is now seeking to appoint an appropriate provider of data centre services to provide 2 geographically dispersed data centres or 2 data halls within a data centre campus, with flexibility to increase or decrease the volume of the service during the contract term to accommodate the Contracting Authority’s requirements. Cross site connectivity between the data centres, in the form of multiple fibres or wavelengths will be required together with sufficient provision of resilient sub-services — cooling, power, fire detection, environmental monitoring and security.
