Greater East Midlands Commissioning Support Unit (GEM CSU) on behalf of NHS England Essex Area Team is inviting suitably qualified providers to tender for the provision of a Child Health Information Service (CHIS) across Essex.
A single service provider is required for a contract period of 5 years with an option to extend for a further 12 months.

The aim of the CHIS is to ensure that each child in Essex has an active care record, supporting delivery of, as a minimum, screening, immunisation and the Healthy Child Programme services. The primary purpose of the Essex CHIS is to manage data and statistical information which supports the provision of public health services to children and young people aged 0-19 including: Health Visiting, School Nursing/5-19 Healthy Child Programme services, Looked After Children (LAC), immunisation teams and primary care. This includes recording notifications of new births and babies moving into the area, requesting records, updating the child health information system with movements in and out, managing school health records, public health intelligence support and record transfers. The CHIS plays a critical role in the local delivery of the national antenatal and newborn screening and immunisation programmes and in the collection, reporting and distribution of other child health data and information in a timely and efficient manner.
