Description of the goods or services required

The objectives of this programme will be to provide a set of interventions, which will identify young entrepreneurs and enhance their capacity to develop their own businesses. This will be across all business sectors and services in North Ayrshire.

The programme will identify a cohort of young people who want to start their own businesses. It will support them develop their business ideas, develop business plans and help them through the initial stages of starting their business with a suite of tailored interventions. It will also link them to organisations in North Ayrshire who can provide additional on-going support.

Specific interventions should include:

– Identifying suitable young people who may be interested in starting their own business

– Ideas generation – via workshops or other interactive techniques

– Business development support – assisting potential entrepreneurs move from ideas to actual business set up

– Detailed business planning support

– Identify shadowing placements – match young entrepreneurs with existing businesses operating in their field to give them hands on experience

– Identify peer mentors – match entrepreneurs with successful business people who will provide mentoring through business challenges

– Make links with other support agencies, e.g., PSYBT, Business Gateway, North Ayrshire Council Economic development services to provide on-going support

– Identify additional start-up funding
