Shaping the Future is an innovative programme of support, retraining and redeployment for the 1,200 employees of Wylfa and Trawsfynydd nuclear power stations, whose careers are substantially threatened by the decommissioning of the power stations over the next 5-7 years. The programme began in February 2010, is scheduled to end in June 2015, and aims to invest close to £4m in supporting the workforce over this period.

This Project aims to improve skills, improve the adaptability of the workforce and enable and assist their career transition into other sectors of the knowledge economy in Wales, focusing on the Welsh Government target industry sectors and Welsh Government Enterprise Zones.

The project has developed a number of “Case Studies” illustrating the strategic outputs, impact and legacy that project has and is having on North Wales. It needs to develop these Case Studies into a legacy publication. (Draft Attached)
