Description of the contract

The Driver and vehicle Licensing Agency requires the capabilities of x1 Agile Technical Delivery Manager that sets up the ‘Digital Services Platform’ Team for successful delivery. This individual will manage the Digital services Platform agile projects, to deliver specific products or transformation via a multi-disciplinary, highly skilled digital team. Experience of delivering complex technical digital projects, breaking down barriers, and both planning at a higher level and getting into the detail to make things happen when needed. Availability to meet the proposed start date of Monday 5th May 2014 and located at the DVLA main site in Swansea, South Wales. Background – Digital Services Platform DVLA has committed to put in place a core digital platform which allows the Agency to be responsive to changing customer needs, have optimal cost to run and change, allow efficient and appropriate sharing of data and services, be adaptable to realise benefits from a fast changing supplier and technology landscape, maintain appropriate technical security, and ensure the maintenance of ongoing service delivery through the transformation process and beyond. The scope of the Digital Services Platform will include: • A standardised assured cloud provisioned infrastructure and application platform to host the DVLA’s Business Services. • Standardised processes and systems for the continuous development, testing and deployment of changes to the DVLA’s Business Services, including support for distributed, secure, collaborative development across multiple development suppliers. • Standardised processes and systems for the secure on-going management and control of these technology environments across a distributed cloud-provisioned environment, where overall support elements may be disaggregated across multiple suppliers, in compliance with Government security standards. • A standardised “Legacy Integration” application interface into the DVLA Legacy ICT estate, which will allow the accelerated migration of business services from the Legacy ICT estate to the Digital Services Platform while ensuring that the risk to business services continuing to run upon the Legacy estate is minimised.
