The contract is for the refurbishment of reed beds. Severn Trent have over 600 reed beds distributed throughout the operating area. Historically, reed beds are refurbished at 15-20 sites per annum although the volume is dependent upon reed bed performance. This volume information is indicative and does not represent a guarantee of future requirements. The framework is likely to be awarded to multiple suppliers with annual competition for each year’s programme of work.

II.2.1)Total quantity or scope:

— Seven Trent Water (STW) require the provision of a service for proactive and reactive reed bed refurbishment.
— Reed beds are the commonest form of tertiary waste water treatment at STW’s small sewage treatment works with 643 beds located at 333 operational sites. Their function is to improve the quality of waste water effluent from the works.
— A planned annual programme of work is executed each year typically covering approximately 15 sites.
— We plan to award a multi-participant framework with annual competition for the programme of works.

2. Contract duration — we will explore an initial contract duration of 3 years + 2 x 1 year extensions. Participants who are successful in progressing to the RFP stage will also be invited to submit proposals describing additional benefits of a longer contract duration (e.g. 5 years + 2 x 1 year extensions).
