The Contract is to provide a rapid and effective response when called upon by HM Coroner, or officers acting on his behalf, to remove a Body from the premises or other situation within the Stoke-on-Trent and North Staffordshire area, or as directed by HM Coroner, and transporting it directly to the Public Mortuary, Hartshill.
As an ancillary part of the Service, the Service Provider will also be required to deliver and collect bodies from the Public Mortuary or other Local Hospital Mortuaries within the Coroner’s District for Stoke on Trent and Staffordshire North.
Exceptionally, there may be the need to transport a Body to or from a location much further afield.There will also be a need to transport in the region of 12 Bodies per year from the scene of death to facilitate Home Office postmortem examinations, then transport the Bodies to any other location as required.

The Contract is to provide a rapid and effective response when called upon by HM Coroner, or officers acting on his behalf, to remove a Body from the premises or other situation within the Stoke-on-Trent and North Staffordshire area, or as directed by HM Coroner, and transporting it directly to the Public Mortuary, Hartshill.
As an ancillary part of the Service, the Service Provider will also be required to deliver and collect bodies from the Public Mortuary or other Local Hospital Mortuaries within the Coroner’s District for Stoke on Trent and Staffordshire North to the X-ray department of the Royal Stoke University Hospital, Stoke on Trent and then elsewhere but normally (though not exclusively) to:
— Birmingham Women’s Hospital,
— Selly Oak Hospital,
— Birmingham Children’s Hospital,
— Sandwell General Hospital or Leicester Hospitals,
— Alderhay Hospital or Walsgrave Hospital Coventry.
Exceptionally, there may be the need to transport a Body to or from a location much further afield.
In addition to the above requirements, there will also be a need to transport in the region of 12 Bodies per year from the scene of death to the mortuary at the Royal Stoke University Hospital, Stoke on Trent, to facilitate Home Office postmortem examinations, then transport the Bodies to any other location as required.
The period of the Framework Agreement will be from 1st April 2018 to 31st March 2022 (2+1+1).
