2.1

Title

National Museums Scotland Masterplan Phase 3 Object Transport and Special Object Handling

2.2

Description of the goods or services required

Object Transport

We require the services of an external contractor to supply an 18 tonne HGV and 2 Art and Object Handling Technicians for a total of 15 days (Monday to Friday 8.30am to 4.30pm) to transport objects from the National Museum of Scotland (NMS), Chambers Street, Edinburgh to the National Museums Collection Centre (NMCC) at 242 West Granton Road, Edinburgh. These services will include the following:

i) loading objects at NMS Chambers street

ii) ensuring they are safe for transport

ii) transport to NMCC

iii) off-loading objects into storage systems at NMCC.

These moves will be supported by National Museums Scotland staff that will oversee loading, courier works to NMCC and oversee off-loading and placement of objects into storage systems at NMCC.

Special Object Packing

We also require the services of the external contractor to de-install and pack a number of special objects. A number of these objects, including Ship Models, will require cradles and a form of appropriate crating to ensure the safe transport and future storage of these objects.
