The National Trust wishes to appoint a single organisation building contractor for the repair and conservation of the existing showrooms (State Rooms) and additional spaces at Knole, a Grade 1 listed building open to the public. Works will include conservation repairs to floors, walls, panelling and ceilings, structural repairs and re-servicing, insulation and fire compartmentation works and will be carried out in a phased way to allow the house to remain accessible to the public throughout the works. 1. opening up of the floors, walls, panelling, ceilings etc. in showrooms and other spaces;
2. allowing access for archaeological recording by others;
3. structural repairs as necessary;
4. re-servicing for heat (electric), light and power;
5. installing insulation materials, principally in floor and ceiling voids;
6. installing fire compartmentation materials;
7. conservation repairs and finishing to floors, walls, panelling, ceilings, glazing/windows, joinery, light fittings;
8. All works will be carried out in a planned, phased way, to allow continued public access to other areas of the house;
9. carrying out public engagement events from time to time.

Parent company guarantees may be required. Evidence of sufficient cover for employer liability and public liability will be required. Payments will be made monthly, via valuation.

The National Trust reserves the right to stop the procurement process and not award a contract (in whole or in part) at any time without liability on its part.
