II.1.5)Short description of the contract or purchase(s):

Construction work for airfields, runways and manoeuvring surfaces. Airfield pavement construction work. Lighting for aircraft guidance and illumination. To undertake all design and build tasks associated with the resurfacing of the runway at RAF Gibraltar. The design shall comply with technical requirements in order to sustain the airfield as an operational forward mounting base in support of HQ BFG mission and to ensure compliance with the Manual for Aerodrome Design and Safeguarding (MADS), and other relevant regulations and guidance documents.
Note certain current dispensations where compliance improvements are not within the scope of the runway resurfacing and AGL works.
Replace AGL equipment in conjunction with resurfacing works and slurry sealing of non Aircraft Operating Surfaces (AOS). This will include High and Medium Intensity lighting where appropriate.
Replace the AGL luminaires, including cabling and contol system, at the runway thresholds, runway ends, runway edges and turnpads. Provide a new complete duct network and associated chambers for the new AGL system. Replace or upgrade existing power and control equipment and infrastructure as required.
The scope of these works will be agreed with HQ BF Gibraltar at all stages of development to ensure a coordinated approach between this project and any other AGL and airfield maintenance works and activities.
