The new Advanced Quantum Metrology Laboratory (AQML) will incorporate 4 no. specialised laboratories located on the ground floor. These Labs have stringent requirements for the control of temperature, humidity, vibration, acoustics and RF interference.
Via an atrium, this new building will adjoin the existing Darwin Building (Building 2), which is to be refurbished to incorporate 8 no. laboratories on the ground floor (incorporating 5 no with inner RF shielding) along with 2 no further floors of flexible office accommodation.
The site has been chosen due to its quiet position, which provides an excellent environment for delivery of many of the complex specifications for the laboratories. It is however on the boundary of Bushy Park Conservation Area and adjacent to Newton’s Tree and Bushy House, a Grade II* building. The location is therefore sensitive in planning terms.

Information and formalities necessary for evaluating if the requirements are met: Candidates will be assessed in accordance with the Public Contracts Regulations 2015 on the basis of information provided in response to a Request for Proposal.
