There is a statutory requirement to undertake workplace assessments of human exposure to noise and vibration. To deliver this essential training the INM require an External Examiner (EE) for the Noise Assessor’s Training Course (NATC), a bespoke training course (focussed on military enviornments) for competent persons responsible for carrying out basic noise assessments; the Environmental Health Technicians Occupational Noise Course (ONC) and the Management of Occupational Exposure to Hand-Arm Vibration (HAV). The EE will also be required to moderate written exams and provide 0.5 day demonstration of hand-arm vibration syndrome, diagnostic and measuring equipment for the HAV (maximum one course per annum). The EE will also be required to attend INM and other sites (location(s) to be decided) for 2 days of the NATC (approximately six courses per annum) and one ONC (one course per annum). The provider will be up to date with current UK H&S legislation (including current noise and vibration legislation), relevant national and international standards, guidance and best practice documents related to assessment of these hazards. The provider should also be fully conversant with MOD noise and vibration policy and guidance and will have an appreciation of these hazards through previous experience of conducting assessments in military, or similar enviornments.
