1)Short description

Queen’s University Belfast is inviting tenders from competent firms to undertake surveys of the attitudes of the public and attitudes of MLAs towards the following issue: possible reform of political institutions to generate a decision making body comprising randomly selected citizens.
The overall aim of the project is to understand:
a) how ordinary citizens make informed and considered decisions on political issues;
b) what the public’s attitude is to decision-making by ordinary citizens; and
c) what the attitude of MLAs is to the idea of giving decision making power to a sample of ordinary citizens.
The study seeks to make a contribution to our general understanding of how citizens can be brought more directly into political decision making and enhancing the quality of our democracy.

Queen’s University Belfast is inviting tenders from competent firms to undertake a survey of the political attitudes and voting behaviour of Northern Ireland citizens in the immediate aftermath of the 2016 Northern Ireland Assembly Election.
The project will provide a significant advance in understanding the relationship between voting behaviour and political attitudes.
