Description of the contract
Good nutrition is essential during early childhood, as it is a time for development and growth, and can have a positive impact on a child’s long term health. Eating habits and patterns are being developed, and early years settings have an opportunity to provide good nutrition, and influence food experience and choices. More than 90% of children attend early years settings before school, so there is also the potential to reduce health inequalities through reaching children across social backgrounds. There is little UK-based evidence. Primary research is required to investigate the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of interventions in early years settings to improve nutrition.
