Research Contract Tobacco Plain Packaging

Description of the contract

This is for the provision of Tobacco plain packaging consultation and review. In March 2011 the Government published Healthy Lives, Healthy People: A Tobacco Control Plan for England, which set out how our comprehensive, evidence-based programme of tobacco control will be delivered over the next five years. This included national ambitions to reduce rates of smoking among adults, young people and during pregnancy. As part of the comprehensive plan to achieve these ambitions, the Plan included the Government commitment to consult on standardised tobacco packaging. A consultation on standardised tobacco packaging has now been launched and will run until 10 August 2012. The consultation document is available to view and download at: http://consultations.dh.gov.uk/tobacco/standardised-packaging-of-tobacco-products/ Based on past consultation exercises, we expect to receive around 100,000 responses to the consultation. These will need to be accurately recorded and analysed, in order that Ministers can be informed of stakeholder views and use this information alongside other relevant evidence to make further decisions. SME’s are encouraged to bid for this work.

Candidates wishing to be considered for this contract must register their Expression of Interest and download and complete a ITT through the DH eTendering portal (BMS). Registration is a simple one-step process; The supplier must register as a company/organisation; then each employee who may undertake a tendering exercise must then register as an individual. Once this stage is completed, it is then possible to register expression of interest for this tender. Note: Standard BMS functionality will only acknowledge one recipient per supplier for each individual tender.
