Description of the contract

The Houses of Parliament Shop is to have a permanent base in 53 Parliament Street with fully furnished modern display units, which offer the flexibility to showcase goods on offer and to significantly increase the retail contribution as part of the House of Commons Savings Programme. Project scope: • The relocation of the House or Parliament Shop is required in order to provide visitors with an appropriate retail & information space for the Houses of Parliament. • To make Parliament and the House of Commons more accessible to the public. • The level of disruption to the running of the retail operation and income stream of the House of Parliament Shop during the transition from the existing Bridge Street location to the new 53 Parliament Street location needs to be carefully assessed and kept to a minimum. • 53 Parliament Street shop is to be designed to conform to all Statutory, Parliamentary Design Authority and best practice Retail standards whilst integrating with the buildings fabric given careful consideration to the buildings Grade II Listed status. • New bespoke shop furniture. • 2x stockrooms in the under-pavement areas. A further small stockroom would be favourable near the point of deliveries. • A small staff room, lockers (x6) and possibly a small changing area. • A small office for 2 staff.
