Description of the contract

The Royal Parks manages eight of London’s Royal Parks – St James’s Park, The Green Park, Hyde Park, Kensington Gardens, The Regent’s Park (& Primrose Hill), Greenwich Park, Richmond Park and Bushy Park. It is also responsible for a number of other areas including Brompton Cemetery, Victoria Tower Gardens and Grosvenor Square Gardens. The Royal Parks is an executive agency of the Department for Culture, Media and Sport. The Chief Executive supported by the Senior Management Team, is responsible for the day to day management of the Royal Parks and is accountable to the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport. The Royal Parks’ inherent purpose is to conserve and improve the fabric of the Parks including their building and structures, to improve the presentation, safety and enjoyment of the Parks for the benefit of visitors and through its conservation policies to contribute to London’s biodiversity. The Royal Parks seek to engage with an experienced surfacing contractor in advance of potential significant additional funding becoming available for Works in Hyde, Regents and St James’s Parks. The total works value is expected to be in the order of £700K and will generally be limited to planning (cold milling) and resurfacing of surface course areas, possibly with red tinted material. Key programme dates following the publication of this notice are: Preliminary Enquires/brief PQQ exercise complete by 07-01-2013; invitation of tenders 14-01-2013; tender returns 21-01-2013; works award 28-01-2013; Works commence 11-02-2013; and works complete 28-03-2013.
