The Department for Education is seeking to establish service contracts in England to implement The School Food Plan (SFP). The aim of the SFP is to further increase the quality and take up of school meals, develop a whole-school food culture in every school and to excite children about good food and cooking so that they can lead healthy lives. DfE will pursue three key major initiatives in the SFP with a combined contract value of GBP 17.4 million:
Lot 1: Support school readiness to provide school meals to all infant pupils’ GBP 9.6million.
Lot 2: Increase take up in at least 2000 junior and secondary schools where take-up of school lunches is very low GBP 4.8 million.
Lot 3: Set up breakfast clubs in at least 500 schools where over 35 % of pupils are eligible for free school meals and there is no existing breakfast provision GBP 3 million.
