CPU 1553 Sexual Violence Counselling and Support Service
In 2013 Nottingham City Council and its partners undertook the Safe from Harm review. One recommendation from the review was to have a joint commissioning approach to the commissioning of domestic and sexual violence and abuse services in the city. The aim of this service is to enable survivors of sexual violence or abuse to recover from the harm they have experienced. The service will provide specialist survivor-centred, needs based counselling and other support to those who have experienced sexual violence or abuse. A holistic service will be provided to both female and male survivors aged from 16 years. The provider will need to give consideration to risk and practicalities in terms of delivery location when working with male and female survivors. The service will deliver across two specific areas: • Counselling and support services • Partnership working The service is aimed at survivors of sexual violence or abuse aged 16 and over. The service will need to be open to both female and male survivors of sexual violence or abuse. The main focus of the service will be to provide specialist counselling provision and therefore the service being delivered in line with the guidelines of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy National Occupational Standards and the National Rape Crisis Service Standards.
