Description

Social Role Valorisation Training

The Trust is seeking a provider of Social Role Valorisation training which will achieve the following outcomes:

• For staff to reflect on how their behaviours and current systems may be inadvertently devaluing people in care and explore a values based approach to enhance people’s dignity and experience.
• Demonstrate a raised awareness of the environmental and organisational stressors and barriers for people in the Trust’s care through initiating change in the clinical area.
• Learning how people become devalued and how our perception of them changes when this happens and what can be done to stop this. Learning how to see ‘us’ in everyone.
• To recognise, encourage and encompass the unique contribution of service user involvement and opinions to the development of person centred services.
• Staff to identify initiatives and approaches within the organisational culture to focus more positively on enabling and engaging with people to enhance the delivery of care.
• For staff to be able to gather information of the impact of any developments as well as identifying any factors that supported or hindered improvements.

This programme aims to be a useful starting point for critiquing service areas in order to identify initiatives and approaches that can help promote dignity, improve understanding and enhance the delivery of care.

The programme will develop staff working practices and cultures in order to improve the dignity and value of people through promoting a person centred value based approach to care.
