Halton Borough Council invites expressions of interest from suitable suppliers for  amplification equipment (FM Systems)  used to help pupils in the classroom overcome the difficulties of background noise and distance from the teacher.

The Council uses three main types of amplification systems  in the classroom:-

  • personal FM systems (Roger Inspiro) for use with hearing aids
  • personal FM systems for use without hearing aids (iSense)
  • classroom soundfield systems (Dynamic Soundfield)

Such systems have been recognised by the government as “reasonable adjustments” which local authorities are required to provide under the Equality Act.

A description of the systems is as follows:-

  • A body worn receiver, about the size of a large mobile phone, worn either on a strap around the neck or on a belt clip.  The ear level receivers  are attached by a special connection to the hearing aid and are about the size of a sugar cube.   Ear level receivers are required in the belief that the pupil will be more likely to wear something less visible.

  • The system must be durable and is expected to last around 5-7 years.

  • A digital system is required which ensures there are is no interference from other systems, no matter the number of systems in close proximity. This gives a considerably better speech to noise ratio which improves the quality of sound experienced by the user.

The Council are seeking a supplier whom can supply around (5 – 10) per annum.

If you are interested please express an interest and send a short brief describing that you are able to provide the products stated above.   Also state any delivery charges that apply. This must be sent in via The Chest and all questions and queries must be raised and will be answered via The Chest. The deadline is 20.00 9th December 2014.

This is an expression of interest only.
