The Council employs between 2 500 and 3 000 people, with approximately 4 000 more who work within schools. In the past a number of smaller organisations (such as parish councils and individual schools) have accessed occupational health services under this contract via the Council, and we would expect this type of arrangement to continue.
The Contract does not guarantee any particular level of service demand, because that depends on the operational needs, but historic service levels are provided in the tender documentation.
Most of the work within the contract has related to pre-employment health evaluation and referrals of employees for a medically-informed opinion: there has also been some involvement in relation to health surveillance, vaccination and other areas.
The Council does not have any premises suitable as consulting rooms, so the Contractor must ensure that it makes appropriate arrangements consistent with the Contract.
