Public Health England (PHE) is inviting tender applications to provide a 12 month physical activity programme to promote measurable increases in physical activity in our staff. There are national guidelines from the Chief Medical Officer on the recommended levels of physical activity for children and adults (At least 150 minutes (2 hours and 30 minutes) of moderate-intensity aerobic activity such as cycling or fast walking every week for adults and at least 60mins a day for children and young people). There are at least ten pieces of NICE guidance with direct reference to physical activity, including five focused wholly on physical activity interventions. The importance of workplace promotion of physical activity is highlighted in NICE guidance of workplace wellbeing.
