Description of the contract

The Department for Education is seeking expressions of interest from suppliers capable of supplying up to twenty 3D printers for use within UK schools. It will enable schools to explore innovative ways of teaching using these technologies which allow complex scientific and mathematical ideas to be understood more easily. Formal tender documentation will be issued to those suppliers interested in providing bids for this work. The maximum budget provided is £2,250 per school and there will be a maximum of 20 schools. The budget will be required to cover provision of a robust, ready-assembled 3D printer, warranty of the equipment, some support to the schools as well as a certain amount of consumable supplies for use over the course of the project. The project will start in October 2012 and run until September 2013. The tender documentation will be issued on Tuesday 21st August and suppliers will be allowed 2 weeks to submit their bids.
