II.1.5)Short description of the contract or purchase(s)

This framework agreement is for the design, manufacture, supply and installation of relocatable classroom units at schools within Devon, Plymouth, Torbay, Somerset, Dorset, Poole and Bournemouth Council areas. It is possible that this framework agreement may be used by Maintained Schools, Voluntary Aided Schools, Foundation Schools, Trust Schools, Academies, Free Schools and Studio Schools that within the Local Education Authority areas of the above. Any schools that operate independently of the Local Authority wishing to use the contract will require the express permission of Devon County Council to do so.
It is the intention of Devon County Council that this framework agreement will be awarded for a period of 34 months to a single operator with a break clause that may be invoked at DCC’s discretion to close the arrangement after 10 or 22 months in accordance with the terms and conditions set out in the invitation to tender.
For the purposes of this framework agreement ‘relocatable classroom’ is a classroom constructed off site in transportable modules for delivery and erection purposes with limited on site finishing being required. The classroom must be capable of being de-constructed on site and transported in modules with the ability to be re-erected with limited reinstatement works being required. A module is defined as a section of the building constructed off site with its own floor, walls and roof and designed in such as way as to facilitate erection and disassembly in a non destructive manner. All classrooms provided under the Framework are to be newly constructed in compliance with the specification, recycled, refurbished or second hand units will not be considered or accepted.
