Supply of equipment, service and consumables for an automated Blood Transfusion compatibility service
The Department of Blood Sciences, Queen Alexandra Hospital, Portsmouth is seeking a commercial supplier to provide automated equipment and test reagents to support its Blood Transfusion service for transfusion compatibility testing.
Automated systems are required to update our existing technologies for the analysis of clinical specimens for blood grouping, antibody screens DATs, compatibility tests, antibody panels and phenotyping.
The expectation is that the contract will run for a minimum of 5 years with 2 optional 12 month extensions. The NHS Standard Terms and Conditions will be applicable. The supplier must have considerable expertise in the field of Blood Transfusion diagnostics with a range of proven platforms, technical support and validated (CE-IVD marked) assays.
The potential supplier must be willing to work with the Blood Sciences Department (and other suppliers, where appropriate) regarding the choice of platforms and assays and to propose solutions to accommodate the specimen work-flow.

The contract will be awarded to the supplier who can:
1. Demonstrate extensive expertise in the provision of transfusion compatibility/blood grouping analysers.
2. Provide evidence of experience to support managed service contracts for provision of a Blood Transfusion service
3. Provide a range of proven automated platforms for the detection of blood groups, Antibody screens, DATs, compatibility tests, antibody panels and phenotyping.
4. Provide validated methodologies to support the repertoire of tests required.
5. Demonstrate established technical (analyser and scientific) support systems to ensure minimal system/service downtime.
