This contract is for the Complex Community Equipment Service only, which will consist of the procurement, storage, supply, distribution, repair, collection, recycling and servicing of a wide range of community equipment at a wide range of locations with in Stockport Metropolitan Borough.
As this contract is for complex equipment only the product list is very small – approximately 35 standard items, plus refurbished special items (approximately 30 refurbished specials on shelf at any one time). These items are primarily beds mattresses and hoists. It does not include simple equipment such as commodes, bathing equipment or walking aids.
Items of specialist children’s equipment, e.g. chairs and beds, are also not included.
Items of complex equipment are expected to have a long life expectancy.
Models of operation based on contracts for both simple and complex equipment, based around procurement or logistics, may not represent the best way of servicing this contract.
A responsive service, designed around this particular contract and including an individually configurable and flexible IT system is required.
