The College is currently undergoing a major relocation project within the campus. As part of this the existing flight simulator facility, a 6 DOF motion flight simularor, is to be relocated and replaced with a new and more capable system. In addition to replacing existing capability, additional simulator stations will also be required to provide greater accessibility to a range of users of the simulator suite, including undergraduate, MSc and PhD students.

The emphasis in the design of the flight simulator is to provide a flexible engineering flight simulator capability. This capability will be used for both demonstration of aircraft flight modes and performance as part of the taught courses offered by the College, as well as serving the secondary capability of being used to develop the College’s expanding human factors research such as that into human perception and control.
The flight simulator suite will include the entire required infrastructure for the main two seat full motion simulator as well as the additional fixed simulators and displays which will be used for teaching and to show the wider capabilities of the suite to the public.
