Newcastle University invites tenders for the supply and installation of a Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) for the University (as detailed within section 3 of the Invitation to Tender document) including support for our international sites e.g. NUMed (Malaysia) and Singapore Campus. This must also include the provision of any consultancy required to ensure the successful project completion plus ongoing maintenance and support of the software.

II.2.1)Total quantity or scope:

Newcastle University has run a VLE (Virtual Learning Environment) for over 10 years for all programmes (except our Medical MBBS programme) and for over 23 000 students. Access is from anywhere in the world including our campuses in Malaysia and Singapore and it is used for live teaching, self-study by students and for formative and summative assessment.
The VLE is the core system used in teaching and learning in the University and is central to the student experience.
The University invites tenders for the supply and installation of a VLE for the University (as detailed within section 3 of the Invitation to Tender document) including support for our international sites e.g. NUMed (Malaysia) and Singapore Campus. This must also include the provision of any consultancy required to ensure the successful project completion plus ongoing maintenance and support of the software.
The initial contract (after successful implementation) will run for 2 years with options to extend for 2 further 12 month periods subject to mutual agreement.
Estimated value excluding VAT: 500 000 GBP

Description of these options: If the performance of the successful tenderer fulfils the expectations of the University during the initial 24 month contract period, then a further 12 month contract may be awarded to run from 1.8.2018, subject to mutual agreement. A final 12-month contract may be awarded on the same basis to run from 1.8.2019. Options will be taken up on or before 1.8.2018 and 1.8.2019 respectively.
