The Department of Health proposes to invite offers for the supply of herpes zoster vaccine to establish if a vaccine can be secured at a price which is deemed to be cost-effective. The vaccine would be used in the national immunisation programme and deliveries would be required over a period of 3 years with an option to extend for a further year. Depending on affordability, up to 4 million doses of the vaccine will be required over the total contract period, including the optional extension.
