Muir Group is looking to upgrade their existing resilient HP Server and HP Lefthand SAN infrastructure with a new server, SAN, server & SAN network and backup solution.
The new Server and SAN infrastructure needs to be fully resilient, the primary implementation will be at Muir Groups new Head Office and the backup implementation will be located in a hosted environment.
Once the new server and SAN infrastructure has been built the existing implementations of VMware and Citrix will need to be upgraded to the latest versions and migrated over to the new infrastructure.
Once everything is operational, Muir Group will require a support contract for the implemented hardware and the upgraded VMware and Citrix environments.

II.2)Quantity or scope of the contract
II.2.1)Total quantity or scope:
Muir Group is looking to work with an organisation who can design and then implement a fully resilient Server and SAN solution that is interconnected together via high speed fibre and 10G networking technologies.
The primary site will be installed at Muir Groups new Head Office which is in Chester, the backup site will be located in a hosting facility and will need to provide a fully resilient hot server and SAN environment.
The backup site will need to be hosted at a location which is within 50 miles of Chester, the provision of this element is optional.
The selected supplier will be responsible for:
— Designing the solution,
— Supplying, installing and configuring the new hardware infrastructure at both the primary and backup locations,
— Supplying, installing and configuring the new software requirements i.e. latest versions of VMware VSphere, Citrix, and Backup Software at both the Primary and Secondary locations,
— Migrating / upgrading the existing Virtualised environment and data to the new hardware infrastructure,
— Migrating / upgrading the existing Citrix environment and data to the new hardware infrastructure,
— Implementation and Configuration of the backup hardware and software,
— Full documentation,
— Testing,
— Training,
— Handover to Muir Groups IT Team.
Once everything is operational, Muir Group will require a support contract for the implemented hardware and the upgraded VMware and Citrix environments.
Estimated value excluding VAT:
Range: between 250 000,00 and 750 000,00 GBP

Dependent on the suppliers status, a performance bond or guarantee may be required.

An agreement as to how the project is funded will be covered as part of the contract negotiations with the preferred supplier. Any payment made to the supplier will be in pounds sterling and will be normally made by electronic funds transfer.

Muir Group specific requirements are yet to be determined; however it does require that the contract awarded be entered into by a single legal entity on the part of the successful supplier(s). Any legal entity which has a group of entities will be required to provide an undertaking to be jointly and severally responsible for the due performance of the project.

Description of particular conditions: The costs of responding to the tender will be borne by the respondent and Muir Group will not be liable for the suppliers costs.
Muir Group are not bound to accept any or all of the suppliers response and may decide just to choose part of the proposed solution.

Objective criteria for choosing the limited number of candidates: Using the pre-qualification questionnaire suppliers will be short listed based on the analysis performed in the financial, legal, and technical areas. Some questions contained within the PQQ may require a “Yes” or “No” response. These questions are known as gateways and are fundamental requirements of the contract. If any of these questions are answered “No”, Muir Group may reject your submission in full, ceasing to evaluate the remainder of the questions. Other questions are weighted based upon there order of importance. The members of the panel will each score the submissions against all of the award criteria. The panel will meet to discuss their individual scores and arrive at a consensus team score. Incomplete responses will reduce the suppliers chance of being short listed and in some cases will exclude the supplier.
