The Young Victim’s Service shall provide emotional and practical advice and support to young victims of crime aged between 8 and 17 years of age (inclusive) across Thames Valley, prioritising those who have experienced the most serious forms of crime, such as sexual and domestic violence including those in abusive relationships and those impacted by domestic abuse in the home. The service will be victim-focused with the aim of assisting victims to cope with the immediate impact of sexual violence and/or to recover from the longer term legacy of the experience. The service shall be free to service users and shall be available to all those resident within the contract area (Thames Valley), including temporary residents (e.g. students, looked-after children), regardless of Gender, culture, religion, ethnicity or sexuality. Where or when the offence took place. Whether the crime was reported to the police or not. The Service shall not be a stand-alone service but must work in partnership with other children’s and young people’s services provided through statutory and voluntary organisations in the community. The nature of support the Young Victim’s service shall provide will vary from case to case depending on the support requirements of the individual and their particular circumstances, however, support workers funded through this contract shall not: perform the role of crisis worker or provide psychotherapeutic counselling, support those under the age of 8 and over the age of 17 other than with the agreement of the Police and Crime Commissioner, support non-residents of Thames Valley other than to provide initial advice and signposting to appropriate services in other areas. support those who have experienced bullying which does not constitute any form of criminal behaviour support those who have experienced anti-social behaviour which does not constitute a criminal offence unless the victim is judge.
