Current Situation. The demand for Endoscopy services is above the current capacity of the unit. Currently, the unit has a shortfall of 16 lists per week. This is putting increased pressure on the performance targets and requires an alternative solution to manage the capacity. The requirement is to deliver sessions outside our core sessions to deliver extra capacity to meet our performance targets. Backfilling core sessions. To ensure that all core sessions are maximised the inclusion of the option to backfill core sessions is required. These session will be daytime or evening sessions as this reflects, our core session. The process will be that the core weekday sessions are advertised within the Trust at 4-6 weeks. If the sessions are not backfilled internally then we would like the company to provide cover in the form of an Endoscopist to cover the session. A minimum of 2 weeks’ notice will be given.
