Description of the goods or services required

Highlands and Islands Enterprise are working in partnership with Scottish Enterprise to deliver a high value programme of entrepreneurship support to ambitious entrepreneurs and businesses in Scotland. The “Entrepreneurial Masterclass” programme of activity will continue the most successful elements of the previous Entrepreneurs Growth Programme (EGP) that was delivered by HIE from 2009-12 but will be tailored to HIE and SE’s needs going forward. Masterclass topics will cover the process of building and successfully growing an entrepreneurial company.

This invitation to tender is for services to deliver (in Edinburgh) the series of ‘Entrepreneurship Masterclass 4a – Financing an Entrepreneurial Company: Stage 1 – “Structuring the Finances of your Business” once per year over a 3 year period 2013-2015 covering the following areas:

– Understanding the role that financing should play throughout the lifecycle of the business.

– An overview of the current state of new company financing in Scotland.

– How to take control of your financing.

– The importance of cash flow.

– How to drive the financing process rather then letting it drive you.

– How to develop a financing strategy aligned to the specific needs of your business.

– Understanding when, where, how and from whom you should find the money to grow your business.

– Understanding what ‘smart money’ can do for your business.

– Understanding what investors look for in a management team and business plan.

– How to ensure the business is successful once your financing is in place.

Services to deliver (in Edinburgh) the series of ‘Entrepreneurship Masterclass 4b – Financing an Entrepreneurial Company: Stage 2 – “How to Raise Money” once per year over a 3 year period from 2013-2015 covering the following areas:

– Understanding the role that risk capital financing should play throughout the lifecycle of the business.

– Using risk capital money to fund business growth.

– Understanding what investors (eg. VCs, Angel financers, crowd funders and other types of investor) look for in a management team and business plan.

– Understanding how to structure your share capital

– Preparing yourself, your team and your business for the finance raising process.

– How to successfully raise money.

– What to do once you have raised the money.

Total quantity or scope of tender

It is intended that these Masterclasses will each be delivered over 2 days and each Masterclass will be delivered once per year in 2013, 2014 and 2015.

The budget currently available is between £75,000 and £88,500 (maximum) (excluding VAT) over 3 years.

It is anticipated that the contract will be let for a period of 3 years, unless terminated in accordance with the provisions of the Contract Conditions.

Minimum Level of Indemnity Insurance: £250,000.
