Cheshire East are seeking provider(s) of Fresh Meat and Fresh Meat Products Including Poultry for use in schools and Care establishments within the Cheshire region.
In a continual development to provide high quality, healthy sustainable food to children in Cheshire East Schools, Cheshire East Catering are looking to continue the supply and delivery of fresh meat and fresh meat related products including poultry.
Cheshire East Catering have held the Bronze Catermark of the Soil Association’s Food for Life Partnership for 4 years and are currently working towards Silver with a view to achieve Gold during the life of this contract. To achieve Silver and Gold we will need to serve a proportion of Organic meat or poultry as well as some free range meat or poultry and to maintain farm assured or equivalent standards. There will be an emphasis on minimising food miles in line with Cheshire East Councils’ Sustainability Policy.

There are 118 locations in total, these will be split and grouped into geographic regions which will form 11 lots, as detailed in Annex B.
The contracting authority considers that this contract may be suitable for economic operators that are small or medium enterprises (SME’s).
For the avoidance of doubt, the contracting authority points out that no weight will be attached to whether or not an economic operator is an SME in selecting economic operators to submit tenders or in assessing the most economically advantageous tender.

Description of particular conditions: Social Value: The Council is committed to ensure wider social and community benefits are achieved in the course of all its commissioning and procurement activities. In accordance with this, suppliers are required to work with the Council towards achieving such aims. Tenderers are required to supply the last Environmental Health (EHO) report and to confirm that delivery drivers will be DBS checked and recognisable.
