Coastal West Sussex CCG wish to commission Tier 3 Weight Management services for adults patients across its geographic area, following on from pilot services which have been running across the area since 2010.
The aims of the service are:
— To provide a medical management of obesity service for severely obese patients;
— To provide an alternative to surgical intervention;
— To prepare patients adequately if a surgical intervention is required;
— To provide a maintenance plan for patients who are exiting the service;
— To provide a CCG- wide service for patients who meet the referral criteria;
— To improve health outcomes in severely obese patients;
— To reduce the health burden of obesity;
— To provide a service to patients referred as part of the MSK knee and hip surgery pathway, to reduce weight / BMI.
The service will provide assessment and treatment of patients led by a multi-disciplinary team (MDT) approach to include bariatric physician, CBT, dietician, nurse and exercise specialist with access to clinical support to address complex issues.
Coastal West Sussex CCG are seeking a single provider able to offer services across the full geographic area of the CCG and to link into the full weight management pathway to ensure patients are managed and referred as necessary to other partners in the pathway; namely tier 2 and tier 4.

A provider information event is being held on Thursday 12th December 2013 from 2pm to 4pm at Billingshurst Community & Conference Centre, Roman Way, Billingshurst, West Sussex RH14 9EW. Details of how to book a place on this event are given in the procurement documentation.
Please note the provider information event is being jointly run with Crawley CCG & Horsham and Mid Sussex CCG who are also undergoing a similar procurement exercise for tier 3 weight management services. The event will provide details on both procurements.
Providers may wish to also look at the advert for the procurement of services being undertaken by Crawley & Horsham and Mid-Sussex CCGs on a similar timeline as Coastal West Sussex CCG. The procurements are being run separately and any bidder interested in both will need to apply for both and separate contract awards will be made by the relevant CCGs.
The estimated contract values stated are for the total of the 3 year contract term.

This is a voluntary notice, as these are ‘Part B’ services.
