Co Operative systems, where technology and people interact in real time with each other and with the traffic manager in order to maximise the efficiency and smooth flow of goods, people and vehicles, is actively being pursued by the Traffic Directorate and other sections of TfL.
As such, TfL looks to engage with leading academic universities in order to ascertain what research is taking place in the areas of transport (primarily traffic systems) relating to Co Operative / SMART Cities. Of particular interest is the ability to utilise mobile technology to understand in real time the movement, decisions, patterns, interactions various modes of a road network have and how they would or already do interact with decisions of the traffic manager.
TfL proposes holding a number of 2 hour workshops where individual institutions are invited in to present their current and future research plans and to listen to what TfL is looking to do in this area.
TfL propose interested Institutions contact the named contact in order to discuss the most suitable time and date for meeting as well as discussing the possible agenda.
