The University of Birmingham is planning to recruit a number of apprentices over the next 3 years in support of the University strategy to develop local talent and support entry points into the University talent pipeline. In addition the University will utilise apprenticeship training for existing staff where a role clearly meets the definition of an apprentice.
The programme will begin for existing internal staff and new entrants from May 2019.
The University of Birmingham will look to sustainably optimise use of its apprenticeship levy (In excess of 1 million GBP per annum) to support genuine apprenticeships and career development for University employees.
The University of Birmingham is looking to engage training providers to deliver apprenticeship training in key areas. The successful suppliers will deliver apprenticeship training where training cannot be provided in house.

II.2.4)Description of the procurement:
The University of Birmingham is planning to recruit a number of apprentices over the next 3 years in support of the University strategy to develop local talent and support entry points into the University talent pipeline. In addition the University will utilise apprenticeship training for existing staff where a role clearly meets the definition of an apprentice.

The University intends (but for the avoidance of doubt shall not be obligated) to procure the supply of apprenticeship training services in connection with the following areas:
— Applied Science and non-Engineering Technicians,
— Maintenance and Engineering Science Technicians,
— IT,
— Hospitality and Accommodation services (non-administrative),
— Business administration, customer services and all other standards.
The successful suppliers will deliver apprenticeship training where training cannot be provided in house.

This Invitation to Tender (ITT) is a tendering opportunity for training providers on the Skills Funding Agency Register of Apprenticeship Training Providers to deliver named Skills Funding Agency (SFA) provision.
It is following the light-touch regime permitted under Regulations 74 to 77 of the Public Contract Regulations 2015.
