Title

007/2016 – Development of revised Brand Framework and Guidelines

2.2

Description of the goods or services required

The University of Dundee want a supplier to have a clear understanding of our brand values and who we are as a University. We want to develop a brand framework and associated guidelines that will more effectively communicate these values. This should include, inter alia:

Development of revised visual identity with clear guidelines on how to use it

Clear guidance on the use of sub-brands

Refresh of University logo. Because of the political points noted in the ITT we do not believe it would be appropriate to completely redesign the logo; however, it does need a refresh.

Development of colour palette

Fonts

Tone of voice

How to manage sub-brands. We have a number of sub-brands across the University, the most prominent of which are Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design (DJCAD), the Centre for Energy, Petroleum and Mineral Law and Policy (CEPMLP), the Centre for Anatomy & Human Identification (CAHID) and Dundee Law School. We have been trying to move these away from using their own logo and feature the University of Dundee more prominently and we need to continue this work.

50th anniversary: 2017 marks the University’s 50th anniversary and given that we will be running various events to mark this we would like a sub-brand/amended version of the logo to mark this.

Advice on suitable brand governance and how it is best managed over the next few years

Advice on who we need to sell this to and the timelines we should include for feedback

The brand framework must be one that can be used by an in-house team and it must be capable of being used across all media, print, digital, photography, and videography.
