St Helens Council with Sutton Manor Community Primary School received funding in 2002 to create a purpose built sports and arts facility to provide sports and arts experiences to the small local population. The centre was to be managed by Sutton Manor Community Primary School and provide these experiences through low cost hire to local business, statutory and voluntary groups. Since 2012 the centre has been managed by a Community Development Officer.The management committee seek to improve prospects for local people and their quality of life by creating opportunities for:
  • Maintaining and building on current revenue sources to aid sustainability of provision
  • Improved financial wellbeing
  • Increased community cohesion
  • Reducing isolation
  • Improved health
  • Reduced antisocial behaviour
  • Better local facilities
  • Better training available locallyThe school would expect a minimum of 37 hrs per week to deliver this
    service.
